It's a 1.5 mile long park on an abandoned elevated railway, opened this week in West Manhattan, New York. This project (because saving and keeping IS A PROJECT) shows the typical way of thinking of NY's people of the second part of past century. Keep and preserve. Like Soho, the Village, industrial sites along the river. The opposite of what we do in Italy: destroy and rebuilt, taking money from selling apartaments for ants, loosing identity and green areas, showing the lowest level in projecting for community.
E' una ferrovia sopraelevata in disuso trasformata in parco pubblico, aperta recentemente nella parte ovest di Manhattan a New York. Questo progetto (salvaguardare e trovare nuovi modelli d'uso è PROGETTARE) mostra la tipica mentalità newyorkese. Non è il primo esempio: basti pensare a Soho, il Village, il comparto industriale lungo il fiume. Esattamente l'opposto di quello che facciamo in Italia: distruggiamo e ricostruiamo speculando con case per formiche, sacrificando il verde, perdendo identità e mostrando al mondo il più basso livello di cultura di progetto.
